Lash Extensions: The Fall Shed

Fall is here! And so is the Fall Shed!

If you’ve been getting lash extensions for a while, you may have heard about the fall shed, or at the very least you may have experienced it once or twice! If not, don’t fret! We’re here to help you understand what’s happening.

The purpose of hair on our bodies is to protect us from UV rays, and eyelashes help protect our eyes from dangerous UV rays. As the seasons change and we spend more time indoors during fall and winter, our bodies naturally shed excess hair (all over our bodies) because we don’t need the extra hair during these indoor seasons. As a result for those of us with eyelash extensions, our sets won’t be as full, and it will seem like our extensions are falling out quicker. And more be more noticeable! That is because you’re probably in your fall shed.

Each one of us goes through the shed at different times, and to add to this news. Wait for it… some of us shed the entire fall and winter! Yes! That means that we go through multiple big sheds NOT just one! So you’re not going crazy! Your lashes are falling out a bit more, but it has nothing to do with you or your lash artist, it has to do with the change in seasons & the amount of time that we no longer spend outdoors & the lack of sun depending on where you are in the world.

Don’t worry! Your cycle will return to normal after your fall shedding cycle is complete! Until next year, but don’t let that stop you from getting your lashes done!
